Art Basel Miami Yacht Charter: Dates, Docks and Prices
Mariam Revuelta
Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 4–6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. A yacht can give your group a private place for collector dinners, client meetings, and an evening away from the fairs. Whether it makes the week easier depends on your guest list, marina, and schedule.
At Book My Boat, we help you match an Art Basel Miami yacht charter to the part of the week you want to spend aboard. Fair admission and ground transfers remain separate arrangements unless your written package includes them. We’ll confirm the vessel, departure point, permitted guests and event-date quote before you book.

Key Takeaways
Art Basel Miami Beach public days are December 4–6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Plan around the wider November 30–December 6 Art Week period, checking each fair’s own dates and admission rules.
A yacht suits private hosting and cruising; fair visits still require suitable ground transfers.
Your assigned marina matters as much as the boat, especially when appointments span Miami Beach and the mainland.
Request December availability early. General fleet starting rates are planning references, not confirmed Art Week offers.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2026: Dates and Venues
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place December 4–6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach. The public days require a ticket or invitation. Art Basel also confirms invitation-only VIP preview days on December 2 and 3; a yacht reservation does not provide that access.
Use the official Art Basel site for admission and current visitor information. The Miami Beach Convention Center lists the event at the venue. Make your charter schedule fit the admission you actually hold, particularly if your guests have different access privileges.
A dinner after a public fair day is a different booking from a reception during the previews. Share the dates and preferred boarding window with us so we can compare suitable boats. If you expect people to join after separate appointments, a marina-approved dockside event may be easier to organize than a cruise with one departure time.
Keep the November 30–December 6 Art Week planning period separate from individual fair opening dates. Gallery events, invitations and private appointments can extend beyond the main fair’s public days. Your charter need not cover the whole week to be useful; one well-timed evening may be enough for your group.
Miami Art Week 2026: Satellite Fairs by Date and Area
Art Week events are spread across Miami Beach and the mainland. Group visits by area where possible, then choose the boat’s boarding point around the evening plan.
Fair | Published 2026 dates | Area and venue | Admission detail to check |
|---|---|---|---|
Art Basel Miami Beach | Public days December 4–6; invitation-only previews December 2–3 | Miami Beach Convention Center | Ticket type and preview eligibility |
Design Miami | Organizer lists December 1–6 | Miami Beach | Confirm the venue, public hours and access for your chosen day |
Untitled Art | Public days December 2–6; VIP and press preview December 1 | Ocean Drive and 12th Street, on the sand, Miami Beach | Public versus preview access and daily closing time |
NADA Miami | December 1–5 | Ice Palace Studios, 1400 North Miami Avenue, mainland Miami | December 1 public entry begins after the invitation-only preview |
SCOPE Miami Beach | Organizer lists December 1–6 | Miami Beach | Confirm current venue details, public hours and preview arrangements |
Dates come from the organizers: Design Miami, Untitled Art, NADA and SCOPE. Recheck hours and admission before arranging transport, since a published event date does not establish that every guest may enter at every hour.
Our Miami yacht calendar places Art Week among Miami’s other major charter occasions.
Why Charter a Yacht for Art Week?
A private boat gives you space to continue a conversation after the exhibition halls close. A collector dinner, a small client gathering, or a sunset reception can have its own guest list, menu, and pace, subject to the selected vessel’s rules.
It is especially useful when your group wants to spend time together without another restaurant reservation. Guests who visit different fairs during the day can meet aboard for the evening.
The charter still needs to justify its place in your schedule. If everyone has separate dinners and little time to board, a long booking may be underused. Tell us how many people will actually attend and how much uninterrupted time you have. We can help you compare a shorter evening charter with a dockside reception or a longer stay.
Should Your Art Week Event Stay Docked or Cruise?
A dockside event provides a fixed location, while a cruise provides time away from the marina for a confirmed group. Both require approval for the intended use. Choose the format before inviting guests so the arrival instructions match what the boat can accommodate.
Format | Works well for | Scheduling consideration | What we’ll confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
Marina-approved dockside reception | Guests arriving from separate appointments | Arrival windows and guest access need approval | Berth, event permission, permitted count, staffing and marina rules |
Private cruise | A group ready to board together | Everyone needs to meet the boarding cutoff | Route, underway capacity, duration, departure and return arrangements |
Dockside does not mean unlimited guest turnover or permission to open the boat as a public exhibition. The marina and vessel arrangements may restrict visitors, catering, amplified sound, branding or event hours. We’ll confirm the approved scope before booking.
For a cruise, avoid promising late pickups or early drop-offs. An extra dock call needs permission and can affect time and cost. If an important guest has a narrow window, share it with us early; a fixed berth may fit better than a route that takes the group away from shore.
Which Marina Is Closest to the Action?
The most practical marina depends on the fairs and events on your calendar. Being in Miami Beach can simplify some ground journeys, but it does not establish the shortest journey for every appointment. The Convention Center has no yacht boarding point.
Miami Beach Marina
Miami Beach Marina is at 300 Alton Road in South Beach. It can be a practical departure location for a Miami Beach-focused day, followed by an evening charter. The Convention Center and beachfront fairs remain separate destinations requiring suitable transport.
We’ll confirm whether your selected vessel departs there, along with the meeting point and arrival instructions. Do not book a boat expecting to change its departure marina simply because another dock looks more convenient.
Venetian Marina and Yacht Club
Venetian Marina is at 1635 North Bayshore Drive on the mainland. Its location may suit guests with mainland appointments or accommodation before they travel to Miami Beach. Compare the whole day’s movements rather than the final fair stop alone.
Actual travel time depends on traffic, event access and the confirmed pickup point; we’ll help you plan boarding around those arrangements.
Yacht Haven Grande Miami at Island Gardens
Yacht Haven Grande Miami at Island Gardens is a superyacht marina on Watson Island, between the mainland and Miami Beach. It is an option to consider for larger-vessel arrangements, subject to berth and vessel availability.
A superyacht-capable marina does not establish that a particular yacht is available, that an event is permitted or that guests may board from any berth. We’ll confirm the specific arrangements, including ground access, before you send invitations.
Request Art Week availability for your dates, with your guest count and preferred area. We’ll confirm the assigned departure point and what options fit your schedule.
Choosing a Boat: Small, Mid-Size or Superyacht
Start with the number of guests and how they will use the space. A seated dinner needs enough dining places; a reception needs suitable gathering space and bathrooms.
Boat tier | Suitable Art Week use | Guest-count check | Booking approach |
|---|---|---|---|
Smaller captained boat | An intimate cruise or short private gathering | Confirm the exact permitted count and practical seating | Usually compare hourly bookings and minimum duration |
Mid-size yacht | Collector dinner or client hosting | Confirm dining layout as well as permitted passengers | Compare duration, menu arrangements and package inclusions |
Larger yacht or superyacht | A larger reception or extended stay where permitted | Confirm cruising, dockside and overnight limits separately | Request a vessel-specific event or multi-day quote |
There is no universal 12-person limit for every uninspected charter. Crewed uninspected passenger vessels under 100 gross tons generally carry no more than six passengers for hire. Larger-tonnage vessels and qualifying bareboat arrangements have different rules, while inspected passenger vessels operate under their approved limits.
We’ll confirm the applicable arrangement and permitted count for each boat. Include children and tell us about photographers, DJs and other vendors so their roles can be accounted for.
Our mega yacht charter guide and luxury charter guide explain the differences. Our guest-count guide helps you compare layouts once capacity is confirmed.
What It Costs During Art Week
Your Art Basel yacht rental in Miami needs an event-date quote. Rates depend on the vessel, duration, availability, departure point and hosting arrangements. We’ll confirm the full price rather than apply an unsupported Art Week uplift percentage.
Our published yacht-party guidance provides general starting points:
Boat category | General published hourly guidance | Four-hour arithmetic illustration |
|---|---|---|
Smaller boats | From about $100 per hour | $400 at that starting rate |
Mid-size yachts | About $250-500 per hour | $1,000-2,000 |
Larger yachts | About $500-1,500+ per hour | $2,000-6,000+ |
Premium larger vessels | Vessel-specific rates can exceed those ranges | Request a quote for the chosen boat and date |
These are general platform references, not Art Week packages or confirmed availability. Do not treat the lowest small-boat rate as a yacht or superyacht offer. Minimum durations and the actual event arrangements need confirmation for your dates.
For illustration, four hours at $350 per hour gives a $1,400 base amount. That calculation does not establish the final invoice. Our Miami yacht rental cost guide explains wider fleet pricing; your quote determines what is included for the selected charter.
Review captain and crew arrangements, fuel for the agreed route, marina charges, taxes, and booking fees together. Catering, décor, photography, AV equipment or added setup time may be separately priced. Add a charge only when it is excluded from the quote, and confirm whether gratuity is included or separate.
A refundable security deposit, where required, is different from the rental payment. Confirm its amount, collection method, and release conditions. For dockside hosting, also confirm whether berth time and marina event charges sit inside the package.
Sample Art Week Itineraries by Boat
A Miami Art Week yacht charter can anchor an evening without turning every fair visit into a boat transfer. The three-day plan below assumes separate fair admission and ground transport. Each day can be booked independently or discussed as part of a longer arrangement.
Day One: A Collector Dinner on Board
Use Thursday, December 3, for fair visits available under your admission, followed by a private dinner. Art Basel is still in its invitation-only preview period, so guests without preview access should choose another confirmed appointment.
Allow time after the final visit for the journey to the marina and boarding. A mid-size yacht may suit a small dinner if the seating and catering arrangements fit your group. Confirm whether the meal is served dockside, at anchor, or during the cruise, and leave speeches for an operationally suitable moment.
Day Two: Fair Visits and a Lunch Break Aboard
Friday, December 4, is an Art Basel public day. Plan one main fair visit, then a boat-based lunch or short cruise if the boarding point and schedule make it worthwhile.
Any additional dock stop needs approval. We’ll confirm whether a vessel can wait at the proposed berth, what the waiting time costs, and where guests may reboard. A return car journey to the assigned marina may be more practical than trying to arrange a new pickup beside each fair.
Day Three: A Sunset Reception
Saturday, December 5, can combine a daytime fair visit with an evening reception. Choose a permitted dockside format for staggered arrivals or a cruise when the whole guest list can board together.
For a larger gathering, confirm the vessel’s approved count for the chosen format and the space needed for food service. Share the desired sunset element with us so we can plan around the date’s daylight and the route, rather than assume every evening departure catches sunset.
Building Transfer Time Into an Art Week Itinerary
Work backward from each fixed appointment. Allow for leaving the fair, reaching the transport pickup, ground travel, marina access, boarding, and the safety briefing. At the end, include disembarkation and the journey to your next venue.
Keep a buffer between fair closing and cruise departure. We cannot promise a fixed road-transfer time during Art Week. Once your appointments and departure point are known, check current transport estimates and leave room for delays.
Hosting Clients and Collectors on Board
For an Art Basel yacht party in Miami, tell us how you want guests to spend their time: dining, networking, listening to a presentation, or enjoying a cruise.
A seated dinner needs suitable tables and service space. A standing reception needs circulation room without blocking safe movement. For a presentation, confirm screen visibility, sound, power, and a backup for any equipment-dependent activity. Vessel features vary, so we’ll confirm the setup before it becomes part of your invitation.
Share dietary needs, the intended menu, alcohol arrangements and your vendor list early. Branding and temporary displays require permission, including any attachment method. A charter booking does not automatically authorize an installation or a public commercial exhibition.
Our corporate event options cover business hosting. The corporate paperwork guide explains COIs, W-9 information, and Net 30 arrangements. We’ll confirm the documents and agreed payment terms for your booking; any additional-insured request should be raised before approval.
Guest Entry and Vendor Load-In
Give us the event contact, guest count, and setup requirements. We’ll confirm the marina’s entry process, identification requirements, approved vendor access and time available for loading and setup.
Vendor arrival is not automatically included in guest boarding time. Deliveries, equipment checks, and cleanup may require additional arrangements.
For a dockside event, confirm the arrival window and whether access is controlled through a guest list. For a cruise, share one clear meeting time and boarding cutoff. Any display, amplified sound, or temporary installation must stay within the approvals for the vessel and marina.
When to Book and What to Ask
Request availability as soon as your December dates and group size are known. Larger yachts, specific berths and custom events can require months of planning. A smaller evening charter may need less preparation, but availability for a particular date cannot be guaranteed.
Treat published lead-time suggestions as planning guidance rather than a booking deadline. Four to six weeks is not a promise that the right boat will remain available. If your plans are close to departure, send us your essentials so we can check practical options instead of assuming the trip is impossible.
Before confirming, settle these six points:
The itemized total for your date, duration and hosting arrangements.
The permitted guest count and applicable charter format.
The departure marina, meeting point and ground-access arrangements.
The booked hours, minimum duration and any setup or waiting time.
Cancellation, weather, rescheduling and separate-fee terms.
Any security deposit, event permission or additional agreement required.
Under our standard policy, the vessel rental price is refundable when cancellation is made at least 24 hours before departure, unless the booking confirmation expressly states a different policy. Within 24 hours, it is non-refundable. Captain, crew, fuel and other third-party operational fees are separate, committed upon confirmation and non-refundable unless the applicable provider expressly authorizes a refund in writing.
If the captain determines before departure that conditions are unsafe, we work with you and the owner to reschedule or refund the vessel rental amount. Operational-fee refunds follow the provider’s policy. Temporary delays or route changes do not constitute cancellation or create a refund entitlement. Our best-time guide gives seasonal context; no charter guarantees specific weather.
Overnight and Weekly Options for Art Week
Sleeping aboard may suit a group that wants a shared base across several days, provided the selected vessel is approved and available for overnight use. An hourly boat rental should not be assumed to include accommodation or continuous access between bookings.
Confirm the actual sleeping berths, cabin sharing, bathrooms, crew arrangements and approved overnight count. Daytime reception capacity and sleeping capacity are different numbers. Our overnight charter guide covers those planning details.
For a longer stay, confirm boarding and return times, berth availability, meals, provisions and what happens while guests attend fairs ashore. A weekly agreement may include operating expenses or allowances that do not appear in a short hourly booking. Our weekly charter guide explains that cost structure.
We’ll confirm an approved overnight or multi-day quote for your plans. Do not multiply a day-charter hourly rate by the week and treat it as an accommodation price. If your Miami visit extends later into December, our New Year’s Eve yacht guide covers that separate event period.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Art Basel Miami Beach 2026?
Art Basel Miami Beach public days are December 4–6, 2026, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The organizer also confirms invitation-only preview days on December 2 and 3. Satellite fairs have their own schedules and admission rules. Match your charter dates to the actual tickets or invitations held by your guests.
Does an Art Basel yacht charter include fair tickets?
No, unless your written package expressly includes them. A charter reserves the agreed boat services; fair admission is a separate purchase or invitation. Booking a yacht does not grant Art Basel VIP access. Confirm each guest’s admission and preview eligibility directly with the fair before planning appointments around a restricted access period.
Can you charter a yacht during Art Basel?
Yes, subject to vessel availability and confirmation of your requested arrangements. We can help you compare a private cruise, permitted dockside event or approved longer stay. Send us your dates, guest count and hosting plans early. The selected vessel’s capacity, assigned marina and event permissions determine what the booking can accommodate.
How much does it cost to charter a yacht during Art Week?
Our general published guidance starts around $100 per hour for smaller boats, with mid-size yachts around $250-500 and larger yachts around 500–1,500 or more. These are not Art Week quotes. We’ll confirm the selected vessel’s event-date rate, minimum duration, inclusions and separate charges before you book.
Which marina is closest to the Convention Center?
The practical departure point depends on the selected boat and your full itinerary. Miami Beach Marina is in South Beach; Venetian Marina is on the mainland, and Island Gardens is on Watson Island. None provides direct yacht access to the Convention Center. We’ll confirm your marina so you can plan the ground journey.
How far in advance should I book?
Request availability as soon as your dates and guest count are known. Larger vessels, overnight stays and custom receptions can need months of coordination, while simpler hourly charters may require less preparation. There is no universal booking deadline. If December is close, contact us promptly so we can check suitable options for your actual plans.
Reserve Your Art Week Yacht
Set your fair appointments, then give the evening room to unfold. Search available boats for your December dates and share your guest count and hosting plans with us. We’ll help you confirm an Art Basel Miami yacht charter that fits the schedule, vessel rules and budget.
